The Gap Bar & Grill is a local restaurant located in the heart of Sunbury, well known for its relaxed and social atmosphere, providing diners with excellent service in a warm and inviting environment.
We are looking for a Chef/Cook to join our team in a part-time capacity and to move into a full-time capacity after a period of time. If you enjoy a fast-paced environment with a strong focus on quality, fresh ingredients, excellent food presentation, and a desire to take initiative in menu advancements, then this is an opportunity for you.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Passion for and knowledge of the food industry
* Experience in a busy kitchen environment, at least 2 years
* Experience with grill, fryer, and pans
* Ability to maintain calm under pressure, multitask, and display effective organization and communication with team members
* Excellent time management and teamwork skills
* A desire to work in a professional, disciplined environment
* A drive for knowledge and career development
* Desired education background: Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery & Diploma of Hospitality Management or equivalent desired
Responsibilities:
* Display practiced and efficient kitchen management
* Undertake the preparation and cooking of meals on shift as required
* Portion and label produce before cooking, chilling, and distribution
* Take lead in menu planning as per restaurant’s direction
* Assist, train, and guide new and junior staff
* Undertake and manage kitchen cleaning every shift or as necessary
* Accept, adhere to, and promote Workplace Health and Safety requirements, appropriate standards, and risk management guidelines
