Aaron Bain Racing Pty Ltd DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: We are looking for an enthusiastic person with the right skill set and experience to join our team. Training (educating) horses on the ground to be handled in all situations including for the vet and farrier. Training (educating) and riding thoroughbred horses to become accustomed to being ridden at the track, both slow and fast work. Loading/unloading horses from trucks and horse walkers. Discussing with the head trainer each horse's performance and any concerns with the fitness or training of the horse after each ride. Liaising with owners/trainers/transporters. Grooming and presentation of horses Preparing dietary requirements of horses. Maintaining records of veterinary treatment to recent wounds and on-going rehabilitation of more severe injuries. Their aim is for you to experiencetheTHRILL and be as close to the action as possible to get that winning feeling. LOCATION: The position is based at Angaston Park SA 5353 and Gawler SA 5118. However, there will be occasions where work is required to be carried out at different locations. This is a full-time position with minimum 38 hours a week. Flexibility is required for site work, overtime, shift work (weekends) and during peak periods. REPORTING TO: The position reports to the Director/s and the Head Horse Trainer. QUALIFICATION: May hold Australian Qualification Framework ( AQF ) Certificate III including at least one (1) year of on-the-job training, OR AQF Certificate IV OR at least two (2) years of relevant experience. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum one (1) year of full-time or full-time equivalent work experience as a Horse trainer/breaker or in a similar role. Oral and written communication skills of a level to take instruction and provide information to other staff, management, and owners. Ability to work and manage a team, also to work independently. Sound knowledge of health and safety obligations and demonstrated skills in safe operation of equipment relevant to the breaking/training and preparation of horses.
