What You'll be Doing
The midwife is a responsible and accountable professional who works in partnership with women to give the necessary support, care and advice during pregnancy, labour and the postpartum period, to conduct births on the midwife's own responsibility and to provide care for the newborn and the infant.
This position may entail rotating through various clinical areas such as:
1. Birthing Unit
2. Post/Antenatal Ward
3. Special Care Nursery
4. Antenatal Clinic.
5. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Midwife with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) & demonstrated recent experience as a Registered Midwife in an environment appropriate to the relevant specialty
6. Demonstrated ability to provide safe compassionate quality care that is culturally responsive
7. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, families, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs
8. Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise
9. Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of evidenced based midwifery care
10. Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace.
11. Current unrestricted Australian drivers licence (P2 Licence Acceptable) subject to obtaining NSW drivers licence within 3 months of appointment.
