Overview
Daifuku Intralogistics America is seeking an engineer with material handling experience to join our new product R&D team. This member will be pivotal in designing innovative conveyor and sortation material handling solutions. Responsibilities
* Conceives, designs, develops and engineers new conveyor fabricated products that add value and meet customer needs.
* Performs engineering calculations to ensure a robust design, including horsepower, stress, torque, deflection, torsion, overhung load, sortation rate, cycle rate, air consumption, and amperage draw.
* Ensures that new products are safe, reliable, and easy to maintain.
* Selects appropriate and cost-effective purchased products.
* Analyzes data to identify trends in usage, cost, performance, and reliability.
* Develops and executes test plans for concepts and prototypes to establish operational parameters.
* Uses modeling and simulation tools to prove or disprove designs.
* Partners with the design team, manufacturing, quality control, purchasing, and administration.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Development, or equivalent experience.
* Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the material handling industry.
* Experience in conveyor systems with carton handling and/or pallet handling.
* Experience with Motor Driven Roller (MDR), sortation technologies, installation, project management, electrical, or EPDM administration highly desirable.
* Strong knowledge of design and development of conveyor-related products.
* Knowledge of conveyor equipment individually and on a system level.
* Knowledge of competitors' products.
* Knowledge of plastics, metals, alloys, and chemistry.
* Knowledge of design cost, budgets, and expenditures.
* Ability to use Excel to sort large data tables and create calculation tables and PowerPoint to create visual explanations.
* Proficient with MS Office, 3D SolidWorks, EPDM, and simulation modules.
* Strong organization skills to meet project plans and deadlines.
