And we’ve been doing it for over 170 years.If we do our job well, we genuinely add to the prosperity of our country and its people.Purpose of the role:The Senior Company Secretary, Wealth, is responsible for leading a small team that provides professional corporate secretarial and governance advisory services to the entities within the Wealth portfolio and supports their boards and committees. This role also collaborates with the Group Legal – Corporate & Governance team on various legal and governance projects across the AMP group.How will you make an impactDevelop and sustain excellent working relationships with directors, executives, and other business stakeholders to influence the adoption of governance initiatives.Influence governance by leveraging key relationships to promote fit-for-purpose governance initiatives and policies that align with the strategic direction and goals of the business, while eliminating non-value-adding governance activities.Foster excellent working relationships within the Corporate Governance team and contribute to a positive team culture and identify and develop talent within the team.Act as a trusted adviser to the Board on company secretariat and governance matters and maintain a risk-aware focus in delivering corporate governance services.Engage with directors and business stakeholders to identify and manage corporate governance issues, initiatives, and opportunities.Implement fit-for-purpose corporate governance initiatives, projects, and policies in consultation with senior governance leaders.Communicate and educate the business on licence requirements, regulatory changes, AMP policies, and corporate governance standards.Coordinate and support board and committee meetings, document minutes, manage progress of matters arising, and maintain governance documents and policies.Provide governance advice and ensure compliance with corporate governance framework and legal and regulatory requirements.Proactively identify opportunities for improving governance practices in response to regulatory changes or market practices.What you will bring to the roleTertiary qualifications in law, business or related fieldMinimum 6 years company secretarial experienceKnowledge and experience of the financial services industry and the legal and regulatory regime, including knowledge of managed investment schemes, responsible entity and AFSL obligationsExceptional understanding of corporate governance issues (both at policy and implementation level)Experience in liaising and building effective relationships with non-executive directors, executives and other senior internal business partners and regulators.We are seeking an initiative-taking and skilled candidate who demonstrates outstanding problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative mindset.
