We respect and value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as First Peoples of Australia.The Assisted School Travel Program (ASTP) plays a significant role in meeting the needs of eligible students with disability by providing free specialised transport to and from school where parents and carers are unable to provide or arrange transport to the student either fully or in part.The program provides approximately 3,000 individual transport services through contracted service providers, free of charge to approximately 11,800 students across NSW in both government and non-government schools.
About the role
The role proactively manages a range of workforce planning, consultancy, advisory and support services while delivering quality human resource (HR) leadership to support the achievement of business objectives.
Key accountabilities
·Provide expert and timely strategic and operational HR advice, guidance and support to ASTP management and staff in accordance with legislation.
·Lead the development and implementation of plans, policies, strategies, processes and key projects, including the identification and appropriate management of HR related business risks across all functional areas of the program.
·Identify, develop and promote better practice and quality improvement approaches to current processes, systems and policy frameworks that enable the continuous improvement and delivery of contemporary HR management.
·Research, analyse and review complex workforce strategy and planning issues, to identify emerging issues, develop evidence-based options and recommended solutions to resolve problems and mitigate risks.
·Provide strategic and operational advice and support organisational change projects and processes.
·Foster and build sustainable business partnerships with key stakeholders and work collaboratively with ASTP management and staff to develop an understanding of workforce management needs, changing business priorities and issues or concerns within their teams to facilitate action requests.
·Coordinate and facilitate staff professional learning to foster improved workplace culture and business unit performance.
·Provide regular updates to the Director regarding progress and achievement of the role’s agreed business and reporting targets.

Essential requirements of the role
·Relevant qualifications and/or demonstrated equivalent knowledge, skills and experience in a related discipline with demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
·Hold a valid clearance to work with children (Working with Children Check) for paid employment.
·Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education
