The Opportunity
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Payroll and Finance Officer to join our Finance Team in Kununurra for contributing to efficient and effective financial management and payroll by providing accurate, timely and high quality service and advice to stakeholders; and ensuring the Shire meets its statutory obligations. Your responsibilities will include:
Preparing and accurately processing fortnightly and termination payroll within a specified time and in accordance with statutory requirements; Reporting, reconciliation and authorisation processes for payroll payments including payroll deductions, taxation, child support, superannuation and monthly payroll reconciliation; Preparation of daily and monthly bank reconciliations ensuring that bank statements and Shire records reconcile; Preparation of the monthly reconciliations including payroll, loan and trust accounts; Assisting in the development, implementation, monitoring and review of accounting policies and procedures and key performance indicators; Assisting with risk assessments and/or internal audits in order to ensure appropriate controls and action plans are developed and subsequently implemented; Assisting with end of month financial processes; Assisting in the gathering of data for the preparation of the statutory financial statements and annual audit. Relevant qualifications in Certificate IV in Bookkeeping/ Accounting or equivalent professional experience, current unrestricted WA Driver's Licence are essential for this role.
You will also need working knowledge of financial and accrual accounting standards, experience in payroll processing, demonstrated ability to work under limited direction to achieve high quality results, demonstrated ability to liaise effectively, possess a high level of written and verbal communication skills.
