Key Responsibilities
* Provide financial management support, including monitoring and reporting in accordance with government policies and procedures.
* Coordinate budget preparation for both capital and operating expenses, ensuring alignment with program objectives.
* Manage and analyze financial data, business activity, and performance indicators to deliver high-quality financial reports with insightful analysis and forecasting.
* Offer expert advice on internal budget policies and financial frameworks to key stakeholders.
* Evaluate and interrogate financial data to ensure accuracy and reliability in reports and systems.
* Identify and advise on key budgetary issues and risks.
* Apply a strong understanding of the Australian Government's financial framework, including accrual accounting principles in a public sector environment.
* Utilize life cycle cost estimation methods, risk and uncertainty analysis, data modeling, and financial forecasting techniques.
* Ensure compliance with International and Australian Accounting Standards, the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013, and relevant financial regulations.
* Develop and maintain collaborative finance business partnerships, providing strategic financial advice and risk identification.
* Communicate complex financial information effectively to support decision-making at all levels.
Key Requirements
Essential
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in accounting, commerce, or a related field.
* Professional certification/membership in a recognized accounting body such as CPA or CA.
Desirable
* Five or more years of experience in business partnering and providing technical accounting advice.
* Experience managing finances within large, complex government programs.
