The role:
The Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2019 provides for the advancement of an appointed Nurse Practitioner Candidate (Grade 6) to a Nurse Practitioner position (Grade 8, Level 3) upon meeting specific requirements. Please refer to the Advancement of the Nurse Practitioner Candidate to Nurse Practitioner Policy for further information.
The Nurse Practitioner Candidate:
1. Provides quality clinical care as a Grade 6 nurse whilst developing knowledge and skills in advanced practice nursing specific to the role and scope of the Nurse Practitioner – Neurology, subspecialising in headache medicine.
2. Undertakes a program of study approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) leading to endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner.
3. Undertakes clinical experience as specified by the tertiary education provider to develop capability in knowledge, skill and experience as an advanced practice nurse.
4. Develops attributes in the domains of leadership, education, research, and advanced practice nursing toward meeting the expectation of the NMBA Nurse Practitioner Standards for Practice 2021.

Nurse Practitioner Candidate, whilst working towards full endorsement will be working with a team of Neurologists, a Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Consultants to provide clinical nursing leadership and engage in in on the job training in a contemporary acute care practice setting.
In collaboration with the Neurology team undertakes assessments, contributes to planning, and co-ordinates the delivery of services to outpatients and those admitted under the care of Neurology team.
Details of Appointment
Fixed Term, full time, day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from 25 September 2023 for a 24 month period.

5. Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.
Salary: $104,735 to $111,334 per annum + 11% superannuation + access to salary packaging
6. Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2019
Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
7. Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) as a Registered Nurse with no conditions or undertakings on registration relating to unsatisfactory professional performance or unprofessional conduct.
8. Enrolled in a NMBA approved Nurse Practitioner program of study at masters level and actively working towards same.
9. Possess a minimum of five (5) years full time equivalent experience in a relevant clinical practice area.
The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
