You are invited to apply for the position of PhD Student, Infectious Disease Modelling at Advanced Personnel Management.
This role is located in a collaborative environment that links medical research with practical action to achieve better health outcomes.
You will undertake mathematical modelling projects to identify the impact and cost-effectiveness of interventions in infectious disease elimination.
Key responsibilities include:
* Developing and calibrating models of infectious disease transmission and progression using appropriate epidemiological, statistical, and mathematical techniques.
* Undertaking costing studies and health economic evaluations of interventions.
* Communicating with experts about the approach and implications of modelling projects.
* Writing academic publications and policy briefs.
* Conducting research projects with a high degree of autonomy.
This is a full-time candidature for a 3-year period. While our headquarters is based in Melbourne, this PhD has an option to be conducted fully remotely from anywhere in Australia.
The essential key selection criteria are:
* An undergraduate degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
* Experience with scientific computing and/or mathematical modelling (proficiency in Python, Matlab or similar).
* Excellent attention to detail and demonstrated communication skills.
Experience in one or more of the following is also preferable: epidemiology, communicable diseases, health costing and economics, or public health.
