Mareeba Kids Campus (MKC) provides local children and families a sustainable service that offers high quality early childhood education-oriented care facilities operated by qualified and professional staff who have employment security and career progression opportunities.
The Role
This is a permanent part-time role of 30 hours per week, Monday - Friday. We are looking for someone who is passionate about customer service and is looking to commit to a long-term position. We value the importance of our customers and are looking for someone with the same values who enjoys greeting people, making good coffee, and will support our Cook in providing nutritious meals and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene.
Key Responsibilities
* Greeting people in a friendly manner and providing barista service to families (training provided if you are not experienced with this).
* Performing a variety of catering and cleaning activities to ensure the effective operations of the kitchen.
* Performing duties that adhere to the maintenance of safe and hygienic operations within the kitchen.
* Assisting the cook with kitchen hand duties such as washing dishes, maintaining a clean environment, and collecting and dispatching meals to rooms.
* Displaying good verbal, written and time management skills with high levels of initiative.
* Maintaining a clean and safe kitchen, in accordance with Food Safety Program and Local Council Authority requirements.
* Being a team player who is open to different styles of working in a kitchen and receptive to feedback.
* Ensuring a high level of health & safety standards are maintained at all times.
* Ensuring the kitchen and appliances are well looked after at all times.
* Interacting with children, educators, and families in a positive, sensitive, and respectful manner at all times.
* Ensuring presentation of food is appealing and exciting for children.
* Supporting the development and maintenance of the food safety plan and program.
* Following procedure regarding food preparation and production duties and adhering to daily menu plans.
* Assisting in preparing all meals and snacks as directed and planned.
* Ensuring that all kitchen equipment is clean and stored correctly.
* Washing, cleaning, and storing all cooking equipment.
* Removing rubbish/food scraps.
* Assisting in the planning of weekly meals.
* Completing daily reports and kitchen checks when required.
* Maintaining direct and open communication to all staff.
* Assisting in the preparation of materials for children's cooking activities when required.
* Keeping up to date with food preparation policies/practices and hygiene requirements.
* Having a happy, friendly personality.
* Possessing customer service skills and knowledge.
* Exhibiting a high level of attention-to-detail.
* Demonstrating a good level of literacy and numeracy.
* Showing enthusiasm to develop your skills and knowledge.
* Being adaptable to change and willing to embrace new ideas and processes.
* Having the ability to work unsupervised and deliver quality work.
* Exhibiting a positive and approachable manner.
* Being able to complete tasks on time with minimal supervision.
* Being able to stand for extended periods of time.
* Having a genuine interest and care for working within an early learning facility.
* Holding a current Working with Children Check issued by Blue Card Services, Department of Justice and Attorney-General.
* Having a Food Safety Supervisor certificate (preferred).
* Holding a current certificate in First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis & Asthma (or being willing to obtain).
