About the Division: The System Performance Division has the lead role in supporting the Minister and the department by developing an evidence base that underpin the department’s ability to create effective policy and education for the South Australian community. The Data Insights team aims to use the best evidence available today to unlock the future for each child and young person. The team looks for the best data and applies the best science to: Understand how people learn and how the education system works Predict what could happen next Help to shape the department’s strategy and targets for improvement The team’s work spans access to infrastructure and content, engagement and participation, and quality of what the system delivers. About the Role: The Data Analyst is responsible for supporting evidence-based decision-making and problem-solving across the department by providing expertise in research, policy, data analysis, reporting, and visualisation. The role is responsible for producing accurate and meaningful insights and recommendations that help inform strategic planning and operational improvements, while contributing to the development of a data-driven culture within the department. The Data Analyst will have a strong understanding of the education system’s context and business needs to evaluate how new directions in analysis and methodologies could help to realise the department’s vision. Desirable Qualifications: An appropriate postgraduate tertiary qualification in data analytics, data science, statistics, spatial analysis, social sciences or equivalent. Special Conditions: The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.
