Located in Clayton, Melbourne, the successful applicant will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities management, with a strong background in maintenance of technical equipment within the pharmaceutical, Life science, GMP, Biotech, R&D and or Manufacturing industries.
Much of this available role will be the operations, preventive, and corrective maintenance of the various electrical, mechanical and utility systems in our pharmaceutical facilities.
What You Will Be Doing
1. Supervise and coordinate the activities of maintenance staff and shift engineers including assigning daily tasks, monitoring performance and rostering.
2. Manage the clients high level expectations and liaise with stakeholders to organize reactive and preventative maintenance aligned with relevant Aus. Standards and Victorian regulatory requirements ensuring efficiency and reliability of facility, equipment and systems.
3. Manage the CMMS (Maximo) Asset / Workorder system and assign, track and close work orders from maintenance staff and service providers.
4. Develop and implement maintenance schedules to minimise downtime and disruptions.
5. Owner of workflows through Risk Management System (VETTED) to create permits, JSA’s, vendor management, etc.
6. Provide training, guidance, and development opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and efficiency.
7. Participate and lead in regular team meetings to discuss operational updates, safety protocols, and performance goals.
8. Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and other relevant regulations.
9. Manage the facility’s inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels.
10. Promote a culture of compliance & safety by enforcing safety protocols, conducting regular safety training sessions including the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
11. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including service logs, inspection/service reports and compliance documentation.
12. Coordinate with external contractors and service providers to ensure quality and timely completion of outsourced maintenance tasks.
13. Evaluate vendor performance and negotiate service agreements to optimise costs and service quality.
14. Develop and manage the maintenance budget, tracking expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
15. Prepare regular financial reports and forecasts for the Facility manager.
16. Serve as the primary point of contact for the client, addressing any maintenance-related concerns promptly and effectively.
17. Ensure high levels of client satisfaction through proactive communication and responsive service.
What You Need
1. Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a leading hand or supervisory role, preferably in the pharmaceutical or similarly regulated industry.
2. Tertiary degree in Engineering discipline or Trade background (preferably electrical) with sub-professional qualifications.
3. Knowledge of GxP & GMP practices.
4. Is authorised to work in Australia.
5. Ability to pass National Police Check.
Qualifications
1. A solid knowledge of the applicable Australian Standards and state based regulatory requirements.
2. In-depth knowledge of facility management best practices, including maintenance, safety, and compliance standards preferably in the pharmaceutical or similarly regulated industry.
3. Strong leadership and team management skills.
4. Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
5. Proficiency in facility management software and systems (CMMS, [Maximo], BMS, EMS, DeltaV, VETTED).
6. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
7. Ability to develop and review key SOP’s.
