We have an exciting opportunity for a Product Environmental Engineer to establish and implement environmental sustainability processes and programs including carbon accounting across BAE Systems projects. This role ensures compliance with corporate, legal, and customer requirements, supporting environmental and reporting obligations from the ground up. The position is available at any of our Australian sites with hybrid work options and a 9-day fortnight to support work-life balance. We also welcome part-time applicants.
Key RESPONSIBILITIES: Expand, improve and maintain the Product Environmental Management System Create environmental processes and systems that meet policy and legal requirements. Provide Product Environmental engineering advice to the BAE Systems Australia community Support the production and delivery of Product Environmental training and material. Gather, analyse and report on emissions data Oversee and peer review environmental deliverables produced by safety engineers, and environmental aspects of product safety deliverables Produce and manage Project Environmental Management Plans Produce, present and articulate clear and logical environmental arguments Lead engagement with internal and external customers, ensuring that their agreed requirements are fully considered and supported Lead or support investigations to close out Product Environmental incidents in a timely manner Ensure that professional engineering, technical and operational support is accurate, on-time and on-budget to support project, task and bid activities Maintain current knowledge of good practice in product environmental engineering within BAE Systems Australia, defence and industry, particularly in relation to emerging legislation Represent BAE Systems Australia at global, corporate initiatives Understand the application of wider Safety Case, Quality and SHE Management System documentation About YOU: Experience working in engineering or manufacturing sustainability i.e. resources, energy, automotive, defence, utilities or government (Highly Desirable) Experience in developing Australian Standard for Defence Contracting (ASDEFCON) deliverables (Preferred) Working experience across the systems development lifecycle (Highly Desirable) Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a STEM subject, preferably Environmental related (Highly Desirable) With training, able to carry out audits of existing projects (Highly Desirable) Contribute and work in a cross-function team while ensuring specific responsibilities are achieved (Essential) Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with employees and customers at all levels (Essential) The successful applicant must be comfortable with occasional out-of-hours work including evenings and nights, to attend corporate meetings.
