Apply now Job no: 502638Work type: PermanentLocation: South Brisbane, Townsville, RockhamptonCategories: All other, Clinical CodingAbout the roleMater is currently seeking a highly motivated Clinical Coder to join our Clinical Coding Services team on a permanent full-time basis, at our Mater Private Hospital Rockhampton with potential to be based in Brisbane.You will have the chance to participate in clinical coding across a wide variety of specialties, for both public and private patients. The Clinical Coding Service seeks to enable the best possible outcomes for Mater patients and clinicians by employing health information management best practice to facilitate quality health information.This role will code across all Maters statewide. The role will involve:Accurately assign specific morbidity and procedural classification to patient episodes to meet data reporting requirementsCode inpatient episodes in accordance with Australian Coding StandardsMeet standards of coding accuracy and awareness of DRG assignment and the impact on potential fundingIdentification of unclear or ambiguous documentation and subsequent initiation of coding queriesParticipate in coding audit, quality and education to expand coding skillsApply the principles of confidentiality, privacy and security with the medical environmentAbout youThe successful candidate will have a HIMAA Introductory/Intermediate Clinical Coding Course/Certificate 1V in Clinical Classification (or equivalent).
