Reporting to the Superintendent Geotechnical, you will be working closely with diverse stakeholders, across multiple sites as a conduit between strategy and execution.As one of the world’s largest Mining Operations and Australia’s deepest, this is a challenging position technically. However, with a team of experienced peers and a strong technical leadership team you will be well supported and developed.Your key responsibilities include: Ensure compliance is maintained to the Ground Control Management plan and QLD mining quarrying and Safety ACT. Conduct and report Empirical and Numerical modelling of new mining blocks. Record and interrogate on monitoring instrumentation, report and develop action plans in conjunction with operations and planning engineers. Interpretation of mine monitoring systems; e.g. Seismic monitoring Underground inspection and Geotechnical mapping Design and reconciliation of large stoping excavations QAQC on installed ground support Monitoring of excavations through damage mapping Design and reconciliation of vertical and horizontal mine development. As the successful applicant you will have: A tertiary degree or an equivalent qualification in Engineering or a Geoscience, with majors in Mining and or Geotechnical engineering. Approximately 2 years’ experience (or more) in underground hard rock mining. experience with numerical modelling software packages (ideally Map3D) experience with Mine design software (Ideally Deswik Suite) Teamwork, strong communication skills, effective problem solving skills, analytical skills. High level of accuracy in their work and ability to manage time effectively. Competent in using Deswik, Geotechnical software packages, and exposure to Geostatistics.
