We are looking for an experienced Senior Database Administrator with a strong understanding of:
* Relational database systems, Structured Query Language (SQL and PL/SQL), relational data modeling and data management principles, structured analysis and design, and documentation of business requirements;
* SQL Server Technology Stack: Database Engine, SQL Agent, SQL Server Analysis Services (Tabular and Multidimensional), SQL Server Integration Services, SQL Server Reporting Services, PowerBI (On-premises);
* SQL Server Administration including configuration, maintenance, monitoring, patching, upgrades and security;
* Data warehousing and database management theory, concepts and technologies;
* Corporate data warehouse planning, design and development;
* Policies and IT standards to research and develop corporate data warehouse; architecture, technologies, methodologies, standards and models;
* Architectural standards, business rules, reporting frameworks, and migration of data;
* Experience in Oracle application development, process optimization and querying/processing large data sets would be an asset;
* Process optimization, scripting, automation and continuous improvement;
* SQL Server Replication, High Availability, and Disaster Recovery methods.
What you’ll get to do
Reporting to the Manager, Data Management & Reporting, the Senior Database Administrator works collaboratively with other Senior Database Administrators and project teams from across the organization to manage, support and maintain BCA corporate databases, data warehouses and reporting systems.
This high performing team is responsible for the definition, organization, standards, security, backup, and performance and evaluation of the BCA databases, data management, and database services. As a Senior Database Administrator, you will also:
* Develop and review corporate data management policies that will guide the development and maintenance of the corporate data warehouse.
* Conceptualize, design, develop and implement the data dictionary architecture, strategies, methods and standards (i.e. extract, transform and load standards, data cubes, data elements, table structures, naming conventions, key definitions and optimization) and data (i.e. data entities, types, sizes and defaults) for complex models.
* Lead data capacity life cycle planning, duration, usage requirements, feasibility and related planning and evaluation studies.
* Develop corporate data warehouse standards, policies and procedures.
* Develop and document corporate standards for use, control, updating and maintenance of enterprise-wide data warehouse and related databases.
* Provide operational support, maintenance and monitoring of databases and makes corrections based on business needs, monitors performance, utilization and growth of databases and identifies systems issues and resolves complex problems.
This position is included in the bargaining unit.

Compensation: $93,317.50 - $109,693.26 (plus 6.25% Temporary Market Adjustment)*

*The compensation range above is based on the salary schedule outlined in the CUPE 1767 Collective Agreement. Successful candidates typically start at the minimum of the range (Step 1), with the opportunity to receive an increment after 12 months of service.
What you bring to the team
Education
* A university degree in Computer Science.
* Training or courses in database design and implementation, information retrieval techniques, file access methods, and development and documentation standards.
* Proficiency in database descriptor language and database command language.
Experience
* Experience performing database analysis and design, managing a data warehouse or managing data administration services for an organization.
* Experience providing technical direction to project staff.
* Experience working in a client-focused work environment.
Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
