Your Opportunity Mission Australia is seeking an experienced and values-based leader to join our team as the Area Manager for the Midwest/Gascoyne and Pilbara regions. Reporting to the Regional Leader Community Services, this pivotal role is responsible for overseeing service delivery across a vast geographical area, including Geraldton, Meekatharra, Carnarvon, Karratha, Newman, and Hedland, as well as providing outreach to smaller towns and remote communities. Managing approximately 10 contracts with two direct reports leading a team of 20-30 staff, the Area Manager will ensure the effective delivery of services in line with contractual obligations. This role also involves leading workforce planning, resource management, and the professional development of frontline service managers. Regular travel across the region will be required to maintain operational oversight and provide leadership to teams in all locations. The Area Manager will represent Mission Australia to government representatives, funding bodies, and corporate stakeholders, fostering strong relationships and enhancing the organisation's presence across the region. In collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, the successful candidate will identify opportunities for service growth and development, driving impactful outcomes for the communities we serve. Your Key Responsibilities Ensure the effective and efficient delivery of services across the region, maintaining accountability for the performance of operations and contract delivery. Demonstrate strong leadership by managing and developing teams, including the coaching and development of direct reports, while fostering a values-driven and high-performance culture. Identify and pursue opportunities for new or expanded services that address local needs, contributing to the growth and impact of Mission Australia's services within the region. Build and maintain strong relationships with government, funders, community groups, and corporate stakeholders, ensuring the organisation's presence and influence in the region. Actively participate in at least two committees or membership bodies within the area to strengthen community connections and representation. Oversee workforce planning initiatives, in collaboration with HR Business Partner and Talent Attraction, to ensure appropriate staffing levels, resource allocation, and succession planning across the region. Ensure the effective management of resources, monitor team performance against targets, and track operational outcomes to meet organisational goals and contractual requirements. Set and exemplify high leadership standards through values-based leadership, promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration, and client-centred outcomes. Be available for occasional on-call duties to provide support and respond to urgent issues across the region, ensuring continuity of service and operational efficiency. Requirements for Success With a significant background leading large teams over different locations and working in the community services sector, you will be confident in values-based leadership and workforce planning. Other requirements include: A tertiary qualification in community services, leadership and/or management - or equivalent demonstrated experience. Knowledge of trauma informed care and recovery framework as well as experience in managing community services will be highly regarded. Proven experience in leading teams across multiple services and contracts. Demonstrated ability to deliver business outcomes on time and within strict budget limits. Knowledge and experience of financial and asset management processes and systems. Existing positive and effective relationships with local Aboriginal communities and Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisations. Exceptional communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills. Insightful people management and professional development of others. Strong experience in managing stakeholder relationships and building positive collaborations. High Level of understanding of Government contracting processes. Solution-focused problem-solving skills. High knowledge of computer systems and processes, CRM's including Microsoft Office Suite. Full driver licence with no restrictions.
