We are seeking expressions of interest for a Civil Construction Traineeship in Road Construction and Maintenance, located in the Townsville Region, QLD. We encourage women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and those from diverse backgrounds to apply.
As a trainee, you will be mentored by a leading Civil Construction company, receiving hands-on training with a focus on teamwork and innovation. The role involves working outdoors in potentially challenging conditions, including heat, dust, and night shifts. Civil construction is physically demanding, so applicants must be prepared to meet these requirements. The position offers an excellent above-award pay rate, with opportunities for overtime and penalty rates.
Throughout the traineeship, you will learn skills such as constructing and rehabilitating roads, organizing work, reading plans, using hand and power tools, and potentially obtaining plant/machinery tickets. You will also receive coaching to complete a nationally recognized qualification, Certificate III in Civil Construction (Road Construction Maintenance RII30915).
Mandatory requirements include:
OHS Construction White Card (must have before starting)
Current driver's licence and reliable transport
Flexibility for day or night shifts and working away on a roster
Strong commitment to completing the traineeship
Must be a self-starter and show initiative
Other requirements include:
Passion for hands-on work and construction
General labouring experience is a plus
Positive attitude and willingness to learn
Competent numeracy and literacy skills (Year 10 or higher)
Ability to work well in a team and complete practical and written tasks
Must pass a drug and alcohol test
Applicants must live in the Townsville QLD region to be considered. Before employment, a pre-employment medical exam and drug and alcohol test will be required.
