Your new team: Forming part of the Orygen Specialist Program (OSP), a program of The Royal Melbourne Hospital, the Custodial Forensic Youth Mental Health Service (FYMHS) team provides specialist youth mental health care in custodial settings (Parkville and Cherry Creek sites) to young people and their families/carers. Custodial FYMHS is in an exciting period of significant growth as a result of the Royal Commission and evolution of Victorian Mental Health Services. Our specialist multidisciplinary team provide enhanced services to young people in custody, with a focus on recovery-oriented care. The Senior Neuropsychologist will form part of the specialist Neurodevelopmental Disorders (NDD) team within Custodial FYMHS comprising Neuropsychology, Speech Pathology and Occupational Therapy. This specialist assessment team provides primary and secondary consultations regarding complex cases. Join a highly skilled and passionate team delivering a holistic approach that supports effective treatment outcomes for young persons in custody, and reintegration to the community. Your new role: The Senior Neuropsychologist will provide assistance and support to young people in custody who present with complex, neuropsychological needs:
Provide timely neuropsychology assessment and expert opinion regarding diagnostic formulation and treatment recommendations to support young people and their service providers in custody.
Consult and liaise with the young person’s care team and other key stakeholders in the community.
Work in collaboration with the Custodial FYMHS Team Leads and the Custodial FYMHS multidisciplinary teams to develop excellence in clinical service delivery with evidenced based assessments and recommendations for treatment and support needs.
Provide teaching, second opinion, and secondary consultation to primary and specialist mental health services to assist in the care and clinical case management of a young person.
About You:
Completion of an accredited Master or Doctoral program in Clinical Neuropsychology, recognised by the Psychology Board of Australia.
Hold general registration AND an Area of Practice Endorsement in Clinical Neuropsychology with the Psychology Board of Australia.
Approved supervisor with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA).
Minimum experience in accordance with EBA requirements for this specialist position, including a minimum of 5 years experience in the application of Clinical Neuropsychology.
Demonstrate experience in the application of clinical practice, particularly in youth mental health.
Knowledge of the youth justice and/or criminal justice system and other relevant settings is desirable.
