About the role
We are looking for an Events Coordinator to focus on planning, organising and supervising an annual calendar of social and charity events for the Rio Tinto Projects team. This is a newly created role within the business services team suitable for a dynamic, energetic individual who has strong organisational, planning, and problem-solving capability. You will be responsible for the successful delivery of several events. This role is based at 7 Mile Dampier on a residential basis, working a 9 day fortnight: 5/2-4/3 roster.
Reporting to the Supervisor Central Administration you will:
1. Generating concepts from briefs, then presenting to key stakeholders for collaboration and agreement
2. Providing support and assisting in the coordination of community events alongside celebrating internal milestones
3. End to end management of events
4. Identify when Level 2 risk assessments are required and carry out in conjunction with HSE representatives
5. Communications and post event reviews
6. Ensure contracted parties and event attendees are aware of and abide by RTIO safety standards and protocols
7. Raise Purchase Orders as required and complete timely close out to ensure vendor payment
8. Ensure event budgets created in advance, adhered to and reviewed following event
9. Ensure all work is performed in accordance with the appropriate Occupational Health & Safety Standards and Regulations as well as RTIO policies and procedures
10. Meet with stakeholders to plan, execute and manage the event with regular catch ups using assorted communication channels

1. Demonstrated knowledge of event coordination & planning
2. Experience within a similar role
3. Microsoft office experience
4. Self-managed and proactive attitude
5. Strong ability to problem solve
6. Excellent stakeholder management and ability to liaise at all levels of the organisation
7. Hold a current "C Class" WA Manual Driver’s License

Where you will be working
Our four independent shipping terminals at two locations, Cape Lambert and Dampier, are managed as a single port system. Each terminal has facilities for train unloading, product stockpiling and blending, and ship loading. Employees reside locally in the Pilbara region of Western Australia with Karratha being the closest town.
