The Student Engineer, Mechanical for Leica Biosystems is responsible for providing support for a cross-functional R&D delivery team working on advanced instrumentation, including our BOND and Peloris platforms.
This position is part of the Hardware R&D organization, located in Mount Waverley and will be on site up to two days per week. At Leica Biosystems, our vision is to advance cancer diagnostics and improve lives.
You will be a part of the Shinkansen Team and report to the Manager, Hardware Engineering responsible for design ideation, development, and delivery as part of a cross-functional team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
* Support root cause analysis
* Participate in design ideation and development
* Analyze requirements, design test plans, and execute testing to demonstrate reliability
The essential requirements of the job include:
* Currently in your 3rd or 4th year of studying Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, or similar
* Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel
* Availability to travel to Leica Biosystems facility in Mount Waverley 2 days per week.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
* CAD design tools such as SolidWorks, or similar
* Exceptional written and communication skills
* Ability to collaborate with a diverse team
