Vacancy for Technical Assistant, Digital Preservation
At the National Museum of Australia, we are seeking a professional to join our Collection Engagement Business Unit.
About the Role
This role supports our digital preservation program by undertaking day-to-day activities to preserve and provide access to our digitised and born-digital collections. This includes:
* File format identification and validation
* Reviewing and preparing digital material for ingest
* Developing and implementing digital workflows
* Supporting ongoing preservation planning activities
* Providing advice on digital preservation to internal stakeholders
* Creating documentation such as field guides, manuals, and training guides
* Supporting system management, including maintenance and testing
Main Responsibilities
You will work collaboratively with the Digital Preservation Coordinator to ensure collection systems are managed and data integrity is maintained. This includes:
* Providing advice, support, and testing activities for system management or upgrade processes
* Collaborating across the Division to acquire, produce, document, preserve, and provide access to our digital cultural collections and assets
Key Skills and Experience
We are looking for someone with experience in digital preservation and workflow development. You should have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively. Strong technical skills, particularly in file format identification and validation, are also essential.
