About the Department The role of the Department of Education is to support Victorians to build prosperous, socially engaged, happy and healthy lives. About the Division IMTD is responsible for supporting one of the largest technology networks in Victoria and leading the department's technology, digital capability, business systems and digital transformation. This network consists of Schools, Corporate and Early Childhood Education (ECE) including a school user base of more than 1500 Government schools, 50,000 teachers and 650,000 students. IMTD provides innovation and leadership in the transformation and management of the Department's digital capability through the implementation of solutions on the department's cloud environment (IaaS), enterprise cloud platforms (PaaS) and software (SaaS), using agile practices with a focus on user experience, security, and integration. About the Role The Salesforce Platform Architect is a key technical leader within the IMTD and will oversee the design, governance, and continuous evolution of the Salesforce platform. This role involves defining and maintaining the overall Salesforce platform architecture, including core capabilities, data models, solution patterns, standards, and security controls. The Salesforce Platform Architect will work closely with program architects, solution architects, and technical architects to ensure all solutions are scalable, performant, and aligned with business goals and architecture standards. Attributes Platform Architecture and Design: Focus on designing scalable, flexible, secure, and user-friendly platforms that can adapt to evolving business and technological needs. Platform Governance: Provide leadership in guiding platform strategy and ensure that all architectural decisions align with the department's goals, compliance, and risk management. Defining and Enforcing Platform Standards: Establish and uphold consistent standards, ensuring high-quality, maintainable, and reusable solutions across the platform. Platform Roadmap Development: Set a strategic vision for the platform, prioritize initiatives, and track progress to ensure continued alignment with business and technical goals. Architecture Review and QA: Regularly assess and validate platform architecture to ensure compliance with industry standards, ensuring the robustness and sustainability of all solutions. Stakeholder Engagement and Advisory: Build strong relationships with stakeholders, communicate complex technical ideas effectively, and provide sound technical advice to influence key decisions. Desirable Qualifications and Experience Expertise in Salesforce architecture, cloud technologies, data modeling, and security for scalable, user-centric platforms. Strong leadership in guiding platform strategy, enforcing governance, and ensuring standards compliance. Skilled in defining platform standards, driving continuous improvement, and maintaining quality. Experience in strategic planning, stakeholder alignment, and using agile methodologies to evolve the platform roadmap. Proficient in optimizing platform architecture for scalability, performance, and code quality. Effective communication and mentoring skills, providing technical advisory and influencing decisions.
