Role OverviewWe are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with the Financial Controller to enhance financial performance, support project management, and ensure regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in accounting and project-based financial management, ideally within the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and update accurate financial records, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger entries.
Reconcile bank statements and manage cash flow to ensure timely, accurate financial reporting.
Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and reports for management review.
Track project-related expenses, ensuring accurate tracking and reconciliation of project costs.
Support budgeting and forecasting for company operations and specific projects.
Monitor and report on project financial performance, comparing actual vs. budgeted costs and identifying variances.
Collaborate with project managers to maintain financial transparency, resource allocation, and adherence to project budgets.
Prepare project-specific financial reports, including cost-to-completion and variance analysis, providing insights for management and clients.
Manage project billing and invoicing, ensuring timely billing and following up on unpaid invoices.
Assist with audits, ensuring compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
Provide financial insights to support decision-making for ongoing and future projects.
Support contract management and financial risk assessment associated with project scope changes.
Participate in the enhancement of financial systems and processes to improve project and company-wide financial efficiency.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Proven experience in accounting, preferably within the construction or infrastructure sectors.
Strong understanding of project-based accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting.
Proficiency in accounting software (XERO, SunSystems, SAP Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with project teams.
Detail-oriented, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
