About the role
If you have the leadership skills and ability, we have the team waiting for you.
As our new Supervisor Mechanic for the afternoon shift, you will shape and grow a dynamic team of high performing technicians working within the newly formed Fleet Services Branch.
Some days are easier than others but that is what being a supervisor is all about. You will be challenged and therefore challenge your team as no two nights are the same. Using your highly trained supervisory skills you will coach and mentor your teams to efficiently maintain our internal fleet of heavy vehicles, civil plant, and specialised machinery used to keep the city of Ipswich moving.
Working together with the Supervisor Mechanic (Day Shift) you will ensure the work is completed and communicate vital information for held over works and vice-versa.
If you are over airport queues and cancelled flights and would like the flexibility of having the mornings to yourself, we are keen to speak to you. Bring your supervisory skills and passion to our workshops, where your team, our operators and community will be thanking you for a job well done.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
1. Provide technical advice and assist with the development of specifications for the maintenance and servicing of all plant, trucks, and vehicles
2. Oversee the completion of worksheets, registers, dockets, timecards, and requisitions using the relevant corporate applications to assist in maintaining the integrity of the workshop maintenance practices
3. Supervise mechanical workshop operations, employees, contractors, apprentices, and trainees to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of services to council assets and customers in accordance with performance targets
4. Contribute to a safe workshop and positive workplace culture
