The Position
The Principal Engineer will lead the Engineering team to ensure the efficient and effective development and delivery of engineering and program management services for Council's Water and Sewerage Programs, specifically engineering advice, program development, asset management, risk management, pre-delivery management, works programming and project management services for the operation, maintenance and construction of Council’s water and sewerage infrastructure.
This position assists the Manager Water and Wastewater and Director Commercial Services in the operation of the Council's water and sewerage systems in order to achieve the objectives of the Councils Corporate, Strategic Asset Management and Drinking Water Quality Management plans whilst ensuring efficient and effective delivery of service.
About You
With a bachelor's degree in engineering, you possess strong communication skills both in writing and speaking, as well as interpersonal and human relations abilities that focus on dispute resolution, team building, mediation, and negotiation. You have demonstrated performance and teamwork abilities to manage and/or participate in multidisciplinary teams to accomplish objectives within time, budget, and quality limitations. You are also a capable problem solver and make responsible decisions.
You have a sound knowledge of the planning and design of water and sewerage reticulation networks, legislation, and asset management principles. You have knowledge of corporate and legislative procurement requirements, contract documentation and contract management.
Additionally, you are competent with the use of the Microsoft Office suite and knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety and risk assessment processes.
