Cochlear, the global leader in implantable hearing solutions, is seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as a Director of Systems Verification and Validation. In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead and inspire a global team of talented individuals, both internally and externally.
As the Director Systems Verification and Validation, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our systems meet the highest standards of design verification and validation. Your expertise and leadership will contribute to the development of scalable, cost-efficient processes that guarantee our products meet the design input requirements and fulfill the needs and expectations of our users.
Responsibilities:
* Inspire, build, and manage a skilled team that upholds Cochlear's position as a leader in implantable hearing solutions.
* Develop and implement a strategic approach to leverage both internal and external resources, providing efficient and effective verification and validation services aligned with our R&D strategy.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and allocate resources effectively across the organization.
* Drive the development of the verification and validation discipline, fostering process improvements and automation. You will empower your team to utilize effective tools and adhere to established processes.
* Provide technical guidance and lead the decision-making process, identifying opportunities to introduce cutting-edge technologies, foster product innovation, and drive development initiatives.
Essential Skills:
* Minimum 10 years of post-qualification design and development experience.
* Good understanding of product design and verification and validation, as well as demonstrated experience leading verification and validation departments.
* Experience with simultaneously managing an internal engineering or verification team and external partners.
* Demonstrated ability to identify, select, and manage external partners resulting in increased business performance and continual improvement over time, and to take action when required.
* Demonstrated ability to simultaneously manage multiple internal and external stakeholders who may have divergent interests, to achieve a solution that satisfies all and is optimal for the business.
* Demonstrated ability to build, inspire, lead, and manage a technical team to develop team capability and deliver the required business outcomes while achieving positive stakeholder feedback.
* Demonstrated ability to proactively identify, prioritize, develop, and execute engineering and process improvement activities and achieve great outcomes and positive team morale.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ideal:
* Experience in the medical device and regulated industries.
* Experience managing an engineering team comprising multiple disciplines, such as electrical, mechanical, and software engineers, in the development, particularly V&V, of complex electro-mechanical implantable medical solutions.
* Commercial and contract experience managing multiple external design V&V partners in the medical device industry.
* Previous participation in regulatory audits, particularly for medical devices.
