The Client:
A specialised town planning practice offering expert advice and innovative solutions for urban and regional planning. Having a strong track record in securing approvals for diverse projects, working in a multi-disciplinary team, and collaborating with industry professionals sets our client apart from the rest.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support job managers by conducting research, drafting correspondence, reports, and planning approval applications.
* Review and revise plans based on client feedback, regulations, and project direction.
* Deliver well-researched, accurate, and succinct reports on time and within budget.
* Stay updated on industry trends, planning schemes, legislative changes, and major projects.
* Consult with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring timely and professional communication regarding project progress and issues.
* Coordinate co-consultants to achieve successful project outcomes.
* Monitor project budgets and timelines, notifying job managers of any potential delays or budget overruns.
* Maintain accurate job files and prepare draft invoices in a timely manner.
* Occasionally attend evening or weekend events such as council meetings or business development activities.
Key Relationships:
* Internal: Collaborate with Directors, Associates, Senior Planners, Planning Consultants, and Reception teams.
* External: Engage with clients, government authorities (local and state), technical consultants, industry bodies, and the community.
Qualifications and Requirements:
* Tertiary qualifications in urban and regional planning, geography, or a related field.
* 0-5 years of experience in a planning consultant or local government planning role/ Graduates welcomed.
* In-depth knowledge of WA statutory planning issues and legislation.
* Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
* Good negotiation, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
* Personal traits of integrity, reliability, and a strong work ethic.
