Position Overview: As a casual Residential Youth Worker with Edmen, you will play a vital role in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people living in out-of-home care.
Working with some of Australia's best youth service providers, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in their lives by empowering them to stay connected to their culture and live their best lives in a nurturing and safe environment.
Shift times (these may vary): AM: 0800-1600 PM: 1600 – 2200 + Sleepover + 0600-0800 Our rosters are done in advance, which grants you some stability working in a casual environment.
We also have emergency and ad hoc shifts available each week.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Create a Culturally Safe and Supportive Home: Foster a secure, nurturing environment that honors and respects cultural identity.
Empower Daily Living: Assist with personal care, meals, and hygiene to promote independence.
Facilitate Transportation: Ensure young people attend school, appointments, and community activities.
Promote Cultural Growth: Encourage skill development, socialization, and cultural connection within the local community.
Manage Health Needs: Administer medications and maintain accurate reporting.
Deliver Trauma-Informed Care: Support youth with complex behaviors using trauma-informed approaches.
Engage in Therapeutic Practices: Participate in the Trauma Recovery framework and complete Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) within your first three months.
What You Need: Identify as Aboriginal or Torres Straight Islander Demonstrated background, understanding and participation in the Indigenous Community with the ability to support Indigenous children and young people in residential care to connect with their culture Hold (or be studying towards) a Certificate IV in Youth Work, Child, Youth and Family Intervention, Social Work, Disability Support Work or similar (see full list of accepted qualifications on our website) Australian Drivers License (P2 or higher) Working with Children Check (Blue Card) Current First Aid & CPR certificate The ability to work a mixture of day, night and weekend shifts as required 'Edmen Community Staffing Solutions considers that being Aboriginal or a Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational requirement for this position under: s 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld)'
