About the opportunity
Our Launchpad team is growing and we’re looking to welcome a new Product Designer to contribute to the ongoing growth of the Detmold Group.
We’re a dedicated team of graphic and industrial designers and technical paper and board product experts, with capabilities in researching and developing concepts and rapid prototypes in packaging.
Reporting to the Senior Product Designer, and based at Brompton, SA, you’ll work on delivering innovative designs and prototypes that meet the needs of both internal and external customers.
You’ll have the opportunity to work with and be mentored by experienced designers who are committed to your growth and development. We work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects simultaneously; we are committed to quality and excellence in all that we do.
Your strong desire to learn and the abilities to multitask and prioritise will be important.
In terms of specific responsibilities, you will:
* Respond to opportunities with the design and development of packaging solutions and prototypes.
* Develop packaging designs through the creation and manipulation of 2D and 3D CAD files.
* Support the daily production of high-quality paper and board packaging prototypes.
* Use a range of business systems and software to carry out daily tasks.
* Use equipment for prototyping: Kongsberg Cutting Table, 3D Printer, Vacuum Former.
About you
What you’ll need:
* A degree in an appropriate industrial/product design discipline, or similar.
* Excellent mechanical aptitude with the ability to create 3D prototypes from 2D concepts.
* Tech savvy with experience in 2D and/or 3D CAD platforms.
* Highly developed communication skills with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
* An understanding of design principles and design thinking processes.
* Experience in prototyping and creating physical samples from concept design work.
* Strong attention to detail.
* An agile and flexible approach to work.
* The abilities to work well as part of a team and independently.
