Deakin Private Hospital expands our footprint into ACT, delivering 52 beds, group therapy rooms, and doctors consulting suites for the treatment of adults and a 12-bed dedicated PTSD/Trauma Support Unit for Military and First Responders.
We are looking for a Chef who will be able to grow with the role as the hospital continues to establish itself whilst ensuring the efficient and effective running of the hospital's Food Service Department in preparing and serving meals and beverages to patients, staff and visitors.
Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in supporting the Hospital Services Manager work with the designated team in Food Services to meet a patient focused operational service. The role will engage in a wide range of activities and responsibilities whilst exercising a high degree of initiative, judgement, and flexibility in solving problems including, but not limited to:
Co-ordination of team resources and their competency and trainingAssistance with Staff rosteringOversight kitchen safety measures, work methods and quality controlMaintain the department within the allocated budgetManage the Food Safety Program including food preparation and productionManage stores including Receipt, dispatch and storage of perishable and non-perishable food suppliesHazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) to ensure food safety complianceFood Standards compliance, nutritional compliance accreditation and Regulatory RequirementsEmpowerment as part of a positive work environment / cultureRequired Qualifications & ExperienceRelevant Food Safety Supervisor Certificate and recognized qualifications and a minimum of five years' experience working professionally in food services preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge and practiced implementation of quality systems, Food Safety programs, Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), Food Safety Standards, National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards and Dietary Guidelines.
Experience in managing and leading a team in a Food Services operational service ideally within hospitals/health care.
Demonstrated well-developed written and oral communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to negotiate with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrates understanding of, and adherence to, safety and quality standards, Work, Health, and Safety (WHS) and the positive patient experience.
The successful applicant will need to undergo a pre-employment National Police Check and comply with Canberra Health Services Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination policy.
