Cost Estimation (Position Location - Canberra ACT)
The APS 6 Cost Estimation Manager would be working with variety of projects to develop life cycle cost estimates.
Responsibilities would include:
1. Building cost estimates to support capability gate review and investment committee decisions;
2. Working through tender submissions to extract the relevant cost data;
3. Working with project managers, schedulers and risk managers to understand the cost implications of schedule, uncertainty and risk;
4. Presenting the models for capability gate review, investment committee and external stakeholder reviews; and
5. Working closely with financial and portfolio stakeholders to convey high-level summaries of the estimates.
The APS 6 Cost Estimation Manager role provides candidates with the opportunity to rotate between projects, providing exposure and experience across multiple service groups and types of projects. Candidates will have the opportunity to learn the nuances of building simple and complex cost estimates and be a key part of project teams as they build their cost estimate model.
Cost Assurance (Position Location - Adelaide SA and Canberra ACT)
The APS 6 Cost Assurance Manager would be providing technical cost advice and support to cost estimators and project teams developing cost estimates.
Responsibilities would include:
6. Responding to general enquiries about cost estimation, the application of Defence costing; standards, policy and processes and cost estimation tools used in Defence;
7. Reviewing cost estimates to ensure they comply with the Defence Cost Estimation Standards;
8. Providing advice and recommendations to improve the quality of cost estimates; and
9. Support senior CCB team members in the preparation of briefs for senior decision makers.
Cost Recovery (Position Location - Adelaide SA and Canberra ACT)
The APS6 cost recovery manager would manage cost recovery models and clear international agreements.
Responsibilities would include:
10. Developing and updating Cost Recovery Models;
11. Reviewing Other Defence Cost Models for compliance with standard best practice and policy;
12. Facilitating and collating Portfolio Charging Survey and Portfolio Charging Review; and
13. Reviewing and clearing International Agreements.

The Capability Costing Branch works in partnership with the Defence community to drive better practice and transform capability costing. The Branch connects and supports a professional costing community by developing policy and technical solutions, providing strategic and technical costing advice, and building a sustainable costing workforce.

If you have a background in accounting and finance or a STEM field we would love to have you onboard. We are looking for people with experience in projects, cost assurance, estimation and project finance.
