A vacancy currently exists for a Farming Maintenance Manager at our Northern Breeder Operation (Nagambie) Victoria. The successful applicant must be prepared to work directly with livestock, after hours and on weekends.
Reporting to the Northern Breeder Operations Manager, the Maintenance Manager will be responsible for the facilitation and management of the day-to-day maintenance processes of the Northern Breeder facilities. This position ensures that maintenance requirements are optimally met within the parameters of safety, cost, planned production, and maintenance schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Ensure that all policies and procedures are implemented and that all staff are trained.
2. Stay informed about new technologies, practices, and equipment to assist in cost reductions.
3. Support all current and new upgrades and changes by being involved in the planning and completion of projects.
4. Determine and eliminate root causes in recurring issues.
5. Ensure that all permits/certifications are up to date.
6. Ensure the completion of inductions of all new maintenance and contractors before commencement.
7. Assist in cost reduction through re-engineering of products or material.
8. Evaluate vendors and sub-contractors before consideration for particular works.
9. Work closely with WHS to ensure that safety is maintained by being involved in risk assessments and ensuring that actions relating to maintenance are completed. Ensure that safety audits are conducted, and incident reports are followed up and investigated.
10. Reengineer machinery to maintain safety standards.
11. Responsible for setting KPIs for maintenance staff.
12. Report on farm equipment performance and plan for improvements.
13. Monitor, review, and optimize preventative maintenance of farms and hatchery.
14. Report on equipment efficiencies and introduce continuous improvement plans.
15. Ensure that preventative maintenance is occurring and support the team when needed.
16. Maintain and control a preventative and emergency maintenance program for all farms and hatchery.
17. Parts procurement which includes stock replenishment with consultation of the store’s person.
18. Read and interpret technical information and specifications from equipment manuals and manufacturer documentation.
19. Supervise and accept the responsibility of the maintenance staff including coordination of shift, overtime, and leave rosters.
20. Supervise external contractors, ensuring that safety rules and other company rules are adhered to.
The ideal candidate will have experience in the poultry industry in either a supervisory or managerial role. You must be able to work both independently and as a team and be committed to providing sustainable livestock management practices. You will be able to demonstrate your effective communication and leadership skills, as well as your commitment to the support, development, and positive engagement of your team. You must have a good working knowledge of OH&S requirements and be efficient with excellent site management capabilities, ensuring all quality and maintenance standards are upheld.
