Alfred Health
Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery, improvement, research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, from ambulatory, to inpatient and home and community based services.
The Alfred Health Headache Service is committed to providing quality headache care to our patients, while supporting training for health care professionals and advocacy for headache care and research. The service includes 6 headache neurologists, a headache nurse and headache fellow. We provide 2 headache clinics and an injection clinic (botulinum toxin and cranial nerve blocks) for headache weekly, a fortnightly headache journal club and a range of neurological meetings and seminars through the Alfred Brain and Monash Neuroscience programs.
Our Service is actively engaged in a number of commercial and investigator-initiated clinical trials, well-supported by the Neurology Clinical Trials Unit. Our academic work is through Monash Neuroscience, a large, vibrant research community supporting a range of early through to clinical research, and a variety of research techniques with excellent infrastructure. We have a number of collaborations with leading national and international headache research groups.
We are seeking a Headache Fellow to join our team in 2025. The ideal candidate will be a neurology trainee, usually post core years, who is passionate about headache care. The position is designed to run over 2 years, with a 50% clinical and 50% research appointment, with the research component contributing to completion of a higher degree (Masters or Doctoral). Previous experience in clinical trials and research is desirable, but not essential. The candidate should have excellent clinical and interpersonal skills and enjoy working in a multidisciplinary team.
