About the HIPPY Program The HIPPY - Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY) program is a free, two -year home-based early learning and parenting initiative that empowers families with young children. By supporting parents as their child's first teacher, HIPPY helps lay the groundwork for a successful early school experience, focusing on literacy, numeracy, language, and physical skills to foster a lifelong love of learning. To find out more about the HIPPY program, click here. What You'll Do As a HIPPY Parent Tutor, you will: Empower parents and carers to be their child’s first educator. Meet with HIPPY families on a weekly/fortnightly basis to deliver HIPPY activity packs. Help plan and deliver fortnightly group gatherings and community events. Participate in weekly training and regular staff development. Help the coordinator in the HIPPY office with resources and admin. Work between 15-20 hours a week school term only. What We’re Looking For Have good communication skills that will support program delivery. Have knowledge and understanding of the Rockingham and Kwinana communities and a commitment to working in the community. Are comfortable visiting homes in the community. A current WA driver’s license. Hold or be willing to obtain a Working with Children Check (WWCC). National Police Clerance issued within the last 6 months. Experience in the following is highly desirable: Working with parents and young children. Managing own time in a professional environment. Community Services work in the local community. As part of our commitment to being a Child Safe organisation, successful candidates are required to provide their Immunisation History Statement. While immunisations are highly encouraged, they are not mandatory. This information will help us assess and implement appropriate safety measures for everyone.
