The Queensland Government invites Expressions of Interest from suitably skilled individuals interested in serving as a Board Director of the Wet Tropics Management Authority (the Authority). Two Director positions are available. Rainforest Aboriginal Peoples and First Nations Peoples are strongly encouraged to apply for all Director positions. Individuals with relevant scientific, land-use planning, and wet tropics ecosystem expertise are also strongly encouraged to apply.Board Directors have a range of important roles including:Overseeing the functions of the Wet Tropics Management Authority as outlined in the Wet Tropics World Heritage Protection and Management Act 1993.Setting the objectives, strategic direction, and policies for the Authority, ensuring it performs its functions in a proper, effective, and efficient manner.Promoting the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally, and involving the community in its management.The Authority is committed to an inclusive culture and encourages applications from people with diverse backgrounds irrespective of gender, disability, ethnicity, generation, and sexual orientation.The closing date for Expressions of Interest is 31 January 2025.
