Period of employment / Hours:
Permanent full-time (76.00 hours per fortnight ) day work (part-time hours may be considered by negotiation)

Duties:
Primary Purpose / Focus :
The Financial Accountant is responsible for assisting the Manager – Budget and Finance in:
* Ensuring the integrity of the general ledger;
* Completing the external reporting requirements of the Department, including financial reporting to Treasury and the completion of the Department’s annual financial statements; and
* Developing relevant accounting policies and processes which improve controls and result in greater efficiencies.
Skills and experience :
Selection criteria includes :
* Demonstrated experience in financial accounting in particular general ledger maintenance and exposure to financial statement preparation.
* Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience in, understanding, interpreting, and applying accounting standards, and awareness of contemporary accounting issues and emerging trends in accounting and reporting in the public sector.
* Well-developed oral and written communication and conflict resolution skills including the ability to represent Strategic Financial Control or the Department and build a good rapport with officers within the Department and external organisations.

Desirable Requirements:
* Relevant tertiary qualifications, together with membership of, or progression towards, either CPA Australia or the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.
