Provide high level advice to management, other NTG agencies and external entities on traffic management issues particularly those pertaining to ITS. Context statement This position is a senior member of the ITS section which is part of a broader traffic operations team that manages traffic signals and ITS on the road network. Key duties and responsibilities 1. Operational control and maintenance of sophisticated ITS on the road network. 2. Develop, design and implement ITS projects that enhance the service delivery of the systems across the network and improve ability to capture and support the use of big data for network operations. 3. Assist in the investigation of safety and operational issues pertaining to ITS systems and devices. 4. Contribute to broader team outputs in operational and business planning activities, including providing training and support to less experience staff. Selection criteria Essential 1. A relevant qualification awarded by an Australian institution, or equivalent; or relevant experience in a field of technical work closely related to the duties of the vacancy. 2. Experience in operating Intelligent Transport Systems to manage road network data that ensures live efficient systems. 3. Ability to investigate and resolve technical system issues in complex road related data systems. 4. Well-developed communication skills both verbal and written, to discuss, clarify and negotiate resolve to issues. Prepare documentation such as reports, project proposals, and business cases. 5. Ability to work as a team to achieve broader objectives of the unit, to teach and impart information to less experienced staff. 6. Well-developed organisational skills and responsiveness to changing priorities in an operational and sensitive environment. Desirable 1. Project Management qualification and/or experience. 2. Undertake investigation of safety and operational issues pertaining to ITS systems and devices. 5. Drive and foster strong ties across the broader team outputs to achieve objectives in operational and business planning activities, including providing training and support to less experience staff. 6. Represent the Department at national forums on ITS innovations and industry developments to keep abreast of future technologies that affect the Departments ITS capability. Selection criteria Essential 1. A relevant qualification awarded by an Australian institution, or equivalent; or relevant experience in a field of technical work closely related to the duties of the vacancy. 2. Experience in operating Intelligent Transport Systems to manage road network data that ensures live efficiency systems. 3.
