Description Governance Officer Reference Number: 10631 Closing Date: Midnight, Sunday, 27 April 2025 Permanent Full-Time Position (can be negotiated as Part-Time 4 days at 0.84EFT) Band 5 with salary commencing at $82,635.53 per annum (or pro-rata) plus 11.5% superannuation commensurate with experience. The Opportunity We are thrilled to present a remarkable opportunity to join our dynamic Legal & Governance team as a Governance Officer. In this vital role, you will play a key part in strengthening our governance framework and providing essential administrative support to the department. Your responsibilities will include implementing the Council's business operations, which involves preparing informative business papers for Councillors to aid in decision-making and accurately recording those decisions in the Council meeting minutes. You will also support the community's engagement with Council through Public Questions, Petitions, and Public Forum presentations. Additionally, you will play a key role in ensuring that we uphold the highest standards of transparency and compliance with the Local Government Act 2020. Join us in making a meaningful difference in our community Responsibilities Assist with the compilation, production and distribution of Council agendas and minutes Share in the role of System Administrator for Council’s Electronic Agenda Management System (Doc Assembler) and Publishing Site (Docs on Tap). Including periodic housekeeping, training of new staff, refresher training, system upgrades, and database administration Maintain all corporate information and registers emanating from the Legal & Governance Department to ensure that information is accurate and current at all times. Regularly attend Council and other meetings as required to take minutes and provide administrative support (including some after-hours work within position’s EFT). Carry out other duties commensurate with skills and abilities as deemed reasonable and appropriate to the role as directed from time to time. Skills & Experience Tertiary qualification with some relevant experience or demonstrated experience in a relevant field with a lesser qualification High-level knowledge and proficiency with the Microsoft suite. Strong attention to detail and administrative and/or secretarial skills and experience Knowledge of local government processes and electronic management systems (e.g. Doc Assembler) highly regarded.
