Why This Role Matters
As a Product Data Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping Spacetalk’s data capabilities. This is a first boots on the ground role of its type providing a great springboard for career growth in an important impact led field. It will be a hands-on role that will expose you to cutting-edge data initiatives, including:
* Establishing and optimising our new data lakehouse and insights platform
* Co-developing AI models for health and safety event detection and life event prediction
* Building bespoke data solutions that extract valuable insights to improve user safety

Key Responsibilities
Data Platform Development & Engineering
* Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of Spacetalk’s data lakehouse and analytics infrastructure
* Support ingestion, transformation, and processing of large-scale health, safety, and location datasets
* Implement ETL/ELT pipelines to ensure high-quality, structured, and accessible data for analytics and AI models
* Work with AWS services (e.g., S3, Glue, Athena, Quicksight) to build scalable data solutions.
AI Model Co-Development
* Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to build and deploy AI models for event detection and prediction
* Assist in developing data processing pipelines that power AI-driven safety features
* Help refine and optimise data quality, feature engineering, and model performance
Insights & Data Exploration
* Support exploratory data analysis to uncover insights that enhance Spacetalk’s safety solutions
* Develop data visualisation and reporting solutions using AWS Quicksight (preferred) or other BI tools
* Ensure data accuracy, governance, and compliance with privacy and security standards (SOC2, HIPAA, GDPR)
* Partner with Regulatory and Security teams to ensure our products adherence to data security and privacy standards (SOC2, HIPAA, GDPR).

Key Skills & Experience
Essential
* Strong Python programming skills for data engineering and ETL workflows.
* Experience with SQL databases and query optimisation as well as no-SQL datastores (e.g. Dynamo).
* Hands-on experience working with AWS data services (S3, Glue, Athena, Lambda)
* Interest in AI/ML-driven applications and data-driven product development
Highly Desirable
* Experience with AWS Quicksight or other BI/visualisation tools.
* Familiarity with C or TypeScript for integrating data solutions into broader engineering efforts
* Understanding of data modelling, governance, and compliance frameworks
* Exposure to predictive analytics, AI, or machine learning workflows
