About The Role This is a permanent, part-time role - 0.6-0.8FTE (we are flexible around your preferences!). Our allied health practitioners are based out of our Oxley office but deliver therapies to clients within the community. This ensures that our clients can still access our services as their mobility and health declines. You will be required to travel in this role; however, a vehicle is provided. The role requires a high level of autonomy as you will be responsible for managing your own caseload with support and guidance from our Team Leader and our Occupational Therapy and wider allied health team. While we work exclusively with MND clients, each client presents with a unique set of symptoms and goals. This means that you will need to have strong problem-solving skills and take a functional approach to their management. The role will see you: Conduct comprehensive and holistic assessments to develop a strong understanding of the client's goals, needs, and priorities. Assessments may include: ADL - functional assessments, FCA's, home assessments (including home modifications) Provide targeted, individualised, and best practice therapeutic interventions to clients in line with their own goals, preferences, and needs. Assess for, trial, and prescribe aids, appliances, and equipment to facilitate independence and/or safely support carers. Deliver education to clients, their support persons, and external stakeholders Liaising closely with all members of the client's support team including other allied health professionals, public health services, doctors and specialists, support coordinators, and suppliers. MND Queensland delivers services in line with evidence-led, best practice care which currently recommends a strong focus on a Multi-Disciplinary Team approach to care. It is expected that all team members are proactive in sharing information and working closely alongside other persons involved in the client's care. About You You will be highly organised, self-motivating, and proactive in finding solutions! Ideally, you will have experience in working with progressive neurological conditions and/or palliative care, or a strong interest in upskilling and developing your knowledge and skills in these areas. Experience with both minor and major home modifications is strongly desirable, as is an understanding of AAC and home automation. You will have exceptional communication skills and be highly organised to ensure that our clients receive the right care at the right time, and that all relevant stakeholders are working collaboratively together. Additionally, you will have: A recognised degree in Occupational Therapy, full AHPRA registration, and at least 3 years of clinical experience.
