Job Description
An excellent opportunity has become available for a highly motivated and passionate IT Technical Expert to join the Telstra Defence TACINT Operations Team.
The opportunity:
You will ensure technical support and specialist team members are supported to deliver rapid restoration of customer incidents. You will work directly with the customer to achieve optimal first in fix results and apply a holistic approach to problem management to improve service reliability.
This is a permanent full-time position and can be based in Canberra, Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne. The nature of this role will require you to work onsite.
Please note all candidates must be Australian Citizens and hold a minimum of NV1 AGSVA security clearance to be considered. This role will require you to hold and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) security clearance with ability to obtain and maintain Negative Vetting 2 security clearance.
Your key responsibilities and major tasks include, but are not limited to:
* Systems Engineer focused on the capability of WAN infrastructure and Deployed Network Elements.
* Resolve operational issues and incidents through ticket escalation.
* Provide engineering advice, training to deployed users and maintain knowledge-based articles for service desk personnel.
* Provide advice and reporting on sustainment requirements, forecasts, and capability upgrades.
* Monitor and report on support contracts, vendor support, licensing, and operational sustainment costs of infrastructure.
* Participate in engineering workshops with vendors and manufactures of Deployed Network Elements.
* Proactively identify problems within the environment and maintain problem records.
* Provide regular capability-based reporting to the Operations team.
* Enhance skills and capabilities in the technical and commercial areas by seeking and undertaking on-going training together with self-study to keep up to date with developments in technology, particularly related to network solutions pertaining to TACINT implementations.
Enough about us, let's talk about you. To hit the ground running we are looking for individuals who can confidently demonstrate the following:
* Hold a minimum of NV1 AGSVA Baseline security clearance.
* Advanced IPv4 network routing knowledge of BGP, OSPF and RIP
* Experience with VPN technologies including Layer 2 VPNs, GRE tunnels and DMVPNs.
* Install, maintain, troubleshoot and administer RedHat Enterprise Linux servers and devices.
* Ability to create, read, modify and execute BASH scripts to automate daily, weekly and monthly tasks.
* Install, configure and manage VMware ESXi vSphere with the ability to optimise and scale VMs, create and manage virtual switches, and manage VMFS and NFS datastores.
* Install, configure, manage and troubleshoot Fortinet products with the ability to orchestrate device configurations through FortiManager.
* Manage, maintain and troubleshoot Window Server Systems including setting up and configuring user accounts, maintaining system security, installing and configuring server software and hardware.
* Configure, manage and troubleshoot DNS servers, DNS forwarders and Domain Controllers by updating DNS database records.
* Scan, identify and rectify cyber security vulnerabilities.
* Prepare, arrange and test Splunk search strings and operational strings with experience setting up indexes, data inputs and forwarders.
* Strong analytical and diagnostic skills; ability to coordinate and direct efforts of multiple stakeholders in the resolution of faults.
