Be part of the new Horticultural arm of the Facilities and Environment team.Moonlit Sanctuary is a 25-acre property comprising buildings, animal enclosures, a natural creek and wetland, and undeveloped native bushland.
In addition to our furry, feathered and scaly friends in-residence, Moonlit Sanctuary welcomes thousands of visitors to its Pearcedale location.This is a unique opportunity to drive revitalisation of Moonlit Sanctuary with a key focus on planning and maintenance and partnering with other departments to deliver high standards of horticulture presentation, landscape renewal and land management.Key responsibilities: Revitalisation: plan and lead a program of sanctuary-wide revegetation works focused on environmental sustainability.Environmental Management: support Moonlit Sanctuary's biodiversity and sustainability goals through the cultivation and introduction of Australian flora on-location.Landscape and Exhibit Design: collaborate on the design and delivery of creative and engaging environments, creating a naturalistic visitor experience.Horticultural Maintenance: maintain Moonlit Sanctuary's natural environments with support from the wider Facilities and Environment team.What we're looking for:Commitment to conservation consistent with the purpose of Moonlit Sanctuary.Minimum Certificate III Horticulture or Parks and Gardens, or allied disciplines such as Natural Resource Management, Conservation and Ecosystem Management or Landscape Design.Solid understanding of the principles of zoological horticulture including plantation maintenance, landscaping, garden maintenance, arboriculture, revegetation, fertiliser selection and use of irrigation, and or arboriculture.Broad knowledge base of plant species and their application within a zoological environment and public space.Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a team delivering operational objectives.Excellent time management and the ability to effectively manage multiple requests and priorities.Demonstrated understanding of workplace safety and risk management principles and practices.Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with proven ability to maintain effective working relationships.A solutions and improvement mindset.Proficiency in the use of software and cloud-based applications.Why Join Us?At Moonlit Sanctuary, you'll have the opportunity to make a real impact in wildlife conservation and to guide the long-term sustainability of Moonlit Sanctuary's precious natural environment.
