Rare opportunity to shape strategy and outcomes Apply your strong commercial acumen and influencing skills Significant leadership role based in Perth About the role We are looking for a Chief Counsel Iron Ore to lead a team providing legal support to our Iron Ore business with a strong focus on Traditional Owner engagement, Aboriginal cultural heritage, environment and tenure related matters. The work is complex and strategically important to Rio Tinto. It requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to influence, and work collaboratively with, internal and external stakeholders and strong problem-solving skills. Leading, and working alongside, some of the industry’s best and brightest minds, you will help solve the challenges of the 21st century and write the next chapter of Rio Tinto’s story. Reporting to the General Counsel Iron Ore you will: Provide outstanding leadership to a team of high calibre lawyers Provide strategic legal support and advice to senior leaders within Iron Ore on Traditional Owner agreement modernisation, Aboriginal cultural heritage, environment and tenure related matters Structure and advise on complex multi-stakeholder negotiations Ensure adherence to the highest standards of compliance in order to build and protect Rio Tinto’s reputation What you’ll bring You are a caring and empowering people leader with the ability to build strong and lasting relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
