The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking an Education Supervisor to provide a critical role at Western Plains Correctional Centre. About the Business Unit Western Plains Correctional Centre (Western Plains) is Victoria's newest maximum-security correctional facility, designed to house up to 1,248 people in custody. Western Plains is a multi-purpose facility that adapts to the evolving needs of Corrections Victoria. It features purpose-built modern amenities including medical wards, a cultural centre, and vocational training facilities. It utilises cutting-edge technology to keep the facility secure, allowing staff to focus on supporting the rehabilitation of people in custody. Western Plains will open mid-2025 and Corrections Victoria are now recruiting key roles to help shape the future operations of the facility. The Vocational Services Team consists of three key portfolios - industries, education, and programs. The role of the team is to prepare prisoners for release and to enhance post-release employment opportunities through prisoner employment, integrated job training, targeted educational opportunities, personal development programs, and activities. About the Role The Education Supervisor is responsible for the management and delivery of education-specific functions within the Education & Programs and Industries areas, under the guidance of the Manager, Vocational Services. The Education Supervisor will assist with the implementation of the Prisoner Employment Pathway Framework through a range of education and training related support, coordination, and planning services for prisoners engaging in VET, on-the-job training, and distance education. Understanding issues affecting the participation of prisoners in education and training is a core part of the role, and the Education Supervisor will provide leadership in addressing such issues. Some of your duties will include: Coordinate and support the operational relationship between education providers and prison program areas, prison education areas, prison industries, and other key stakeholders. Monitor the implementation of prisoner learning plans and ensure prisoners' learning pathways are managed throughout their sentence. Establish and coordinate local performance reporting processes, including analysing data and preparing reports and briefings to relevant prison and CV senior staff on the delivery of education and training where required. Deliver and manage distance education support services to prisoners and coordinate assessments regarding an individual's capacity to participate in distance education. About you To be successful in this role, you will have: Manage teams effectively in complex situations, providing clear direction, advice, and necessary support in day-to-day work and in developing and implementing new processes and procedures. Demonstrated experience in the coordination of operational service delivery across a variety of business units and program areas, including service performance monitoring and reporting (desirable). Demonstrated knowledge and experience of Vocational Education Training (VET) and its role in education and employment.
