In this role you’ll be tasked to lead the direction, coordination, and execution of medium to large-scale projects that make a real impact. Your focus will be on ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget, while maintaining the highest quality standards and achieving exceptional stakeholder satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver highly complex, critical, and high-risk projects to agreed scope, time, and cost.
* Manage contractors and suppliers, ensuring quality is never compromised.
* Successfully transition projects to business as usual with minimal impact.
* Ensure compliance with Council’s Project Methodology, Standards, and Processes.
* Proactively manage project financials, including Capex and Opex.
* Report project status to key stakeholders and Program Manager on an ongoing basis.
* Identify and mitigate risks, ensuring project assumptions, issues, and dependencies are effectively managed.
* Conduct stakeholder analysis and create comprehensive management plans.
* Build and support effective project teams to deliver on project and program outcomes.
Skills & Knowledge: Essential:
* Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build rapport across teams.
* Proven leadership abilities, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.
* Extensive knowledge of project management processes and tools.
* A results-driven attitude with a commitment to continuous improvement and adaptability.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality.
Qualifications & Experience: Essential:
* Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or a related field.
* Significant experience in managing high-value, complex projects.
* Proven ability to supervise staff, manage consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
* Strong financial acumen with knowledge of Capex/Opex reporting.
* QLD "C" Class Driver’s License (or interstate equivalent).
Desirable:
* Membership in a relevant professional body such as Project Management Institute.
* Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project)
