About the role Ryan Catholic College, Kirwan is seeking and experienced and dedicated Groundsperson.
This role is a full time, fixed term position for (12 months) commencing 17 February 2025 until 13 February 2026.
The Groundsperson, under the direction of the Principal, contributes to the effective and efficient operation and environment of the school by providing a high level of maintenance and upkeep of the school grounds.
The Groundsperson will be required to assess repairs quickly to enable maximum safety at all times.
The Groundsperson will work with limited supervision under the direction of the Principal.
Key Accountabilities Other duties include: Team Leader for 4 grounds staff, ensuring they complete the allocated tasks under your direction in a safe and timely manner Attend regular meetings with the Facilities Manager for allocation of tasks Sourcing and ensuring adequate supplies of equipment, spare parts, and consumables etc are maintained Maintain lawn, trim trees overhanging infrastructure, hedging, blowing down and outdoor vacuuming Assist with constant upkeep and upgrading of school grounds and gardens, including fertilising, poisoning, landscaping and minor irrigation checks and repairs as required Bin runs, rubbish removal, tilling sandpits and pressure cleaning Assist with setting up for school functions and displays Carry out minor repairs to the College property and equipment, including: Assist with marking playing fields Routine maintenance and cleaning of machinery and sheds, including external cleaning Assist with general maintenance, upkeep and cleaning duties as reasonably requested Other related duties as reasonably requested by the Business Manager.
Mandatory Criteria Current Working with Children Suitability Card - The successful candidate will require a paid Blue Card before commencement as per the No Card, No Start policy developed by Queensland Government.
Undertake Workplace Health and Safety Training Current Driver's Licence Ability to travel within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner This position will be subject to a pre-employment medical assessment to support the selection process.
Desirable Criteria Relevant certificate or trade qualifications.
