Job Description
The Port Officer (PO) Casual position in Port Kembla is responsible for assisting with safety outcomes for the port, including:
* Pilot transfers and maintenance of response equipment and pilot vessels
* Checks on navigational aids and escorting ships in and out of the harbour
* Participating in emergency response activities, such as oil spills and firefighting
* Completing security and environmental patrols
* Handling audit and inspection activities
The role requires approximately 12 weeks of on-the-job training. It is highly desirable for applicants to have experience in the Maritime field.
Responsibilities
* Undertake training to Port Officer level as required
* Support pilot transport activities for vessel movements
* Assist with the maintenance of the pilot cutters as required
* Undertake port patrols to inspect Port Authority's property and assets
* Handle audit and inspection activities
* Test and maintain emergency response equipment
* Participate in emergency response within the port
* Perform administration duties, including logging and reporting of shift activities, data entry, and procurement of items
* Implement and continually improve Port Authority processes and policies
Requirements
* General Purpose Hand Certificate
* Coxswains certificate or NSW boating licence if coxswains certificate is not held
* Valid NSW Motor Vehicle Licence
* Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) (or ability to obtain)
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in the Maritime field
* Masters MED IIIFirst Aid certificate
