What you'll be doing The primary purpose of the level 4 paediatric dietitian clinical educator position is : to provide highly developed clinical skills as a senior clinician and educator within a tertiary hospital. coordinate and deliver education and training to the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics staff and dietetics students at CHW plan, coordinate, deliver comprehensive nutritional service to paediatric inpatients and outpatients attending the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network. to facilitate clinical supervision and provide support to level 1 and 2 health professionals, technical and support staff. This includes the provision of clinical in-service education programs to staff and students across CHW in addition to planning and implementing a tertiary student lecture series. to provide consultation in their specialty to other health professionals across the area, geographic region or clinical network both within and beyond the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network. The Nutrition and Dietetic Department aims to work in partnership to advocate for optimised nutrition for children through evidence based clinical care, education, research and leadership. We specialise in addressing the unique nutritional needs of children from neonates to adolescents, across a range of clinical domains. Our primary aim is to optimise the growth and nutritional status of all children with chronic and complex medical conditions. The clinical load of this level 4 dietitian will be determined based on the needs and priorities of the department. The level 4 dietitian however will be expected to work across a range of clinical areas, in both the inpatient and outpatient setting, as directed by the Manager of the Nutrition and Dietetics Department. Eligible for full membership of the Dietitian’s Association of Australia. A commitment to obtaining APD status, if not already achieved, is required. Extensive post graduate clinical experience in a range of clinical areas with the ability to deliver high levels of professional expertise and knowledge. This includes the ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Excellent communication, negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational levels Ability to provide in-depth advice and education to enhance service delivery and to guide and support others in providing service excellence, with the capacity to provide clinical supervision to other staff Demonstrated leadership abilities, particularly in regards to ensuring appropriate clinical governance, supervision and support for staff and students. Ability to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature Ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives, research and service evaluation processes and lead ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff Demonstrated understanding of the principles of adult education and training. This includes the application of multimedia and related technologies.
